Full navy long-grained morocco binding, later circa 1800, signed at foot R. P. Thouvenin. Joseph Thouvenin the younger was the elder of the more famous Thouvenin of the same name. This sober binding is in the taste of Bozérian. Raised spine decorated with 4 small fleurons, series of roulettes at foot. Fillet frame on covers. Edges gilt. Spine sunned turning green. Minor rubbing to headcaps, spine and covers. Tissue guards present. Title page and frontispiece with some foxing, some leaves more yellowed and scattered foxing (fairly rare).
Handsome copy in one of the first bindings by Thouvenin the younger.
