Full pasteboard binding in vellum style, smooth spine, frame of blue painted fillets on marbled paper boards, some areas where the fillet paint has faded, moiré-effect endpapers and pastedowns, covers and spine preserved, all edges gilt, contemporary binding.
Autograph inscription signed by Jules Lemaître: "A Marthe Léon Daudet, son vieil ami. Jules Lemaître." ["To Marthe Léon Daudet, his old friend. Jules Lemaître."]

Edition illustrated with original ornamentations by Paul de Pidoll heightened in gold, one of 150 numbered copies on Arches paper, deluxe copy after 8 Japan copies.
Handsome copy despite some foxing and a slight tear at head of front cover.
