Simple contemporary bronze half-cloth binding, smooth spine framed in gilt, gilt title, bookbinder's ticket at foot of the pastedown, "Buchbinderei Schey & Co, Zürich".

This first French edition of 'Das Kapital' was published in parts between 1872 and 1875, but met with no success, as the publisher writes in a letter to Marx dated 24 December 1873:
