Braid binding in half red percaline, smooth back decorated with a gilded floral motif, golden date and double fillet in tail, title piece of brown shagreen, marbled paper plates, slightly blunt corners, preserved covers, Contemporary binding signed Paul Vié.
Precious autograph dedication signed by Jules Barbey d'Aurevilly raised to gold for some letters: "To my friend François Coppée, these portraits (misspelled words by Jules Barbey d'Aurevilly and barred by him) traits for traits ... and these features "accompanied by a small drawing representing two crossed arrows drawn in gold.

First edition, for which there were no large paper copies.
Half maroon morocco over marbled paper boards, spine in six compartments decorated with gilt fillets and double gilt compartments, date in gilt to foot of spine, marbled pastedowns and endpapers, covers and spine preserved.
Autograph inscription from Jules Barbey D'Aurevilly in red ink to Eugène Yung "... à Monsieur Yung (de la Revue bleue) ces petits bleus […to Monsieur Yung (of the Blue Review) these little notices."
An elegantly bound copy.
