This edition was illustrated with the first printing of 180 compositions by Hémard, coloured in stencils. One of 1,100 copies on velin de Rives paper, after the tirage de tête on annam, composed of 65 copies.

Contemporary grey shagreen, spine with two large painted and varnished images, one of a stylised black cat, the other a naked woman in black, grey and white, author and title gilt, covers in mosaic vellum with a similar theme, original covers preserved. Slipcase in grey, black and gilt marbled paper, foxing to endpapers, spines lightly and uniformly sunned.
A fine copy in a handsome, unique, unsigned binding.
