New edition of this bible, bearing the privilege on the verso of the title page dated January 20, 1558. Preface by Johannes Hentenius, and probably establishment of the text. Printer's device on title page. Decorated initials. Colophon on verso of last leaf: Excudebat Antverpiae Amatus Tavernerius, anno M.D. LXIX. The text is found in the Vulgate version of the very famous Louvain edition of 1547; Charles V had indeed expressly requested a new, more accurate version of the Bible and this was made from Greek, Aramaic and Hebrew texts.
