Tériade, whose real name was Stratis Eleftheriadis, arrived in Paris in 1915 and discovered Parisian bohemia early on, making the acquaintance of Christian Zervos. He participated in the creation of the famous surrealist magazine Minotaure for which he served as artistic director until 1936. He also founded, with Maurice Raynal, the magazine La bête noire then the magazine Verve to which the greatest artists of the 20th century contribute
