    Contemporary full tree calf bindings. Smooth spines decorated with two gilt tools and two grotesque panels. Red morocco title labels. Black wax volume labels, heavily rubbed and faded. Head- and tailcaps and the upper and lower joints and corners very discreetly restored. A scratch on one board. A handsome, clean copy.

    New edition with the date of the original. Statement of second edition. This edition, from the same publisher as the first, has the same collation.
    Contemporary half brown sheep binding. Smooth spine decorated with roulettes and dotted crosses. Brown calf title-label. A tear with loss to the upper joint, at the head.
    Publication due to Madame de Stael. She herself made a particularly judicious selection and choice among the mass of military and literary documents of Marshal de Ligne. The correspondence, thus carefully selected, reveals the intimacy of a personality within European affairs. The work concludes with a collection of maxims and various thoughts.
