First edition of the French translation, one of 990 numbered copies on pure vellum ful only leading copies after 125 reimposed. Bound in half red shagreen with corners, back with four nerves crimped nets cold decorated triple cold boxes, golden tail date gilded nets coaching marbled paper plates, guards and contreplats marbled paper, wrappers and back preserved and bound in , gilded head. Rare spots without gravity, nice copy.
Edition for which he was not drawn large paper, review copy. Signed autograph of Roger Quilliot Claude Gallimard. Illustrated cover of a photograph of Albert Camus, complete copy of his prayer to insert.

Autograph inscription from André Breton to his friend Jean Carrive: “à Jean Carrive, son vieil ami”. Spine slightly wrinkled and occasional foxing mostly to upper cover. André Breton compares Jean Carrive to Rimbaud when in 1923 he brought this “Gascon terrorist” to Paris and mentions him in the Manifesto of Surrealism as one of the 19 who “acted with absolute surrealism”.
First edition, one of 2250 numbered copies on châtaignier paper, the only printing after 24 Madagascar paper. A trace of fold to lower cover, otherwise a good copy.

This novel was masterfully adapted to film a few years later by Jean Grémillon, with Jean Gabin creating Maw Love. Back slightly insolated with a small tear in mind.
