The first collection of laws governing Spain appeared in 1567 under the instigation of King Philip II. This collection would be reprinted and supplemented until 1775. A third book appeared containing los autos acordados.
This edition is complete with its index at the end of volume II.
Absent from the Bibliothèque Nationale de France and French catalogues, copies from 1775 and 1772 at the British Library, Cambridge and Southampton (these libraries never hold all 2 volumes, but either the first, second, or third).
Full flamed calf bindings from the early 19th century. Smooth spine with fillets. Red title label and black volume label. Headcaps rubbed. Various scuffing. One tear to the tailcap of volume I. Surface abrasions on the edges. Upper headcap of volume II torn away.
