    First edition in this size, reduced from the 1890 issue in large format. One of 10 copies on japon paper of this suite of 9 etchings, most limited deluxe copy (tirage de tête) with 10 on chine. With a table of contents, under a half green cloth publisher's slipcase with flaps, vignette printed on the lower board, missing ribbons. Spine and headpieces rubbed, inner margin of first cover shaded.


    Exceptional set of prints on japon by Odilon Redon, superb symbolist "interpretations" of Baudelaire's masterpiece. The drawings from this series were exhibited for the first time at the Salon des XX in February, 1890.

    Edition partly original and first typographic edition published after the extremely rare 1887 edition in facsimile, one of 50 numbered copies on Japan, justified by Edmond Demain, the tirage de tête.

    Binding in full dark blue morocco, spine in five compartments with gilt fillets and decorated with double gilt panels adorned with gilt floral motifs and brightened with pieces of red mosaic morocco for the petals, gilt date at the foot, gilt roll tooling on the spine ends, frame of triple gilt fillets on the boards, iridescent beige silk endpapers, frame of a gilt floral dentelle on the pastedown endpapers, covers and spine preserved, double gilt fillets on the leading edges, all edges gilt, slipcase lined with midnight blue morocco, marbled paper boards, beige felt interior, magnificent binding signed Maylander.

    A very beautiful copy perfectly set by one of the best binders of the early 20th century.

    Half-morocco binder with bands, back with four nerves set with golden threads and decorated with double golden boxes set with a listel of morocco green bottle, date golden in tail, golden nets on the plates of marbled paper, guards and counterplates of Paper to the vat, preserved blankets and backs, golden head, binding of the signed era of Franz.
    Handwritten signature of Leon Bloy below the justification of the draw.
    Autograph signed by Leon Bly to Adolphe van Bever.
    A split bit then restored at the head.
    Exemplary pleasantly established in a signed Contemporary binding.
