Half red morocco over marbled boards, corners in morocco, spine with five raised bands adorned with gilt fillets and double gilt compartments, date stamped in gilt at foot, minor rubbing to the bands, gilt fillet border on the marbled paper boards, comb-marbled endpapers and pastedowns, original wrappers and backstrip with a few minor losses preserved, a light scratch to an upper corner, contemporary binding signed by C. Septier.

Inscribed by one of the authors on the half-title page, to Marcel Gropiot.

First edition, one of 12, 13, or 14 numbered copies on Whatman paper depending on the volume, the only deluxe paper copies. The first three volumes had no limited deluxe paper issue and are from an edition of 3,000 copies each. The Whatman copies are as follows:
- 12 copies for volumes seven, eight, nine, twelve, and thirteen,

- 13 copies for volumes four, five, six, ten, and eleven,

- 14 copies for the final four volumes.

Contemporary red half morocco with corners, spine with five raised bands, gilt rules and triple gilt panels, date stamped in gilt at foot, minor rubbing to bands, gilt fillet borders on marbled paper sides, endpapers and pastedowns of comb-marbled paper, original wrappers and spine bound in, one upper corner lightly scuffed, binding signed by C. Septier.
