Bound in half black shagreen, spine slightly faded with five raised bands, date gilt at foot, marbled paper boards, one joint rubbed, combed paper endpapers and pastedowns, original covers preserved as doublures (rear cover with marginal lack at upper right corner), corners slightly bumped, top edge gilt, Scottish binding by Kear & Richardson, binders in Glasgow.
