    Our copy is preserved in its original state, issued in temporary blue paper wrappers, with some losses to the corners and a mounted title label on the spine.

    Some light foxing.

    Pierre-Auguste Mutel (1795–1847) entered the École Polytechnique in 1813, graduating 34th in the class of 1815, and went on to serve in the artillery corps.

    Manuscript ex-libris of Becquerel, dated 24 October 1833; it is difficult to determine which member of this illustrious family should be associated with this provenance.

    First edition, illustrated with 6 folding plates at the end of the volume (cf. Polak 5375).

    Contemporary Bradel binding in full red boards, flat spine, black shagreen label with gilt lettering, the upper cover stamped in gilt with the monogram of Prince Eugène de Beauharnais, stepson of Napoleon. Lower corners a bit rubbed. Period binding.

    A few minor spots, not affecting legibility.

    Only two copies listed in the CCF (BnF and École Polytechnique).

    The only edition of this insightful analysis of French naval doctrine at the close of the Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, significantly bearing the motto on the title page: Delenda est Britannia. Charles-Louis-Victor...

    Bound in bottle-green full sheep, Bradel-style binding, smooth spine ruled in gilt with double fillets, gilt date at foot, original pink paper waiting cover preserved, modern binding.

    A waterstain affects the lower margin of the initial leaves, gradually fading throughout the volume.

    Unique and uncommon edition (the purported 1814 edition is a bibliographical ghost).

    First edition. Illustrated with a lithograph showing sections and views of the Tain-Tournon bridge project, then under construction.
    3/4 marbled roan binding, spine framed and decorated in gilt, red morocco title-piece, marbled paper boards, marbled paper endpapers and flyleaves. Spine, spine-ends and corners rubbed, contemporary binding signed by Stroobants.

    Extremely rare pamphlet by Seguin on a prototype suspension bridge built over the Galore river at Saint-Vallier in Isère. It served as an experimental construction for the Tain-Tournon bridge, the world's first large suspension bridge invented by Seguin using metal wires.
