Autograph signed by Henri Pourrat to his auvergne friend Robert Garric: "... this story of a poet who comes from the sun to the light ..."
Reform Catholic, he was the founder of the "Social Teams" in 1920, which aimed to constitute a social elite and to bring the good word on the confraternity born from the trenches to the workers, in the tradition of the patronages . Simone de Beauvoir, then a student of Robert Garric in philosophy at the Sainte-Marie Institute of Neuilly, remembers him in his "Memoirs of a young girl": "Garric appeared; I forgot everything else and myself; the authority of his voice subjugated me. At twenty, he explained, he had discovered in the trenches the joys of camaraderie that removed social barriers. [...] To deny all the limits and all the separations, to leave my class, to leave my skin: this slogan electrified me. [...] My life must serve! It is necessary that in my life all serve! "
