    No copies recorded in the CCF or the CCI. The title refers to Thomas Van Erpe’s Grammatica arabica [= Erpennio in Italian], published in Leiden in 1613.

    Contemporary-style half black cloth over marbled paper boards, smooth spine, unrestamped and restored, bookplate pasted to front pastedown, modern binding.

    Exceptionally rare first edition of this study in applied mathematics, which had been the subject of a report presented to the Class of Physical Sciences and Mathematics of the Academy of Turin on 26 Ventôse, Year XIII. 

    Our copy is preserved in its original wrappers, in provisional speckled green paper covers with a few small losses at the corners.

    To understand the significance of these editions, it is necessary to go back a little in history: The papal bull Unigenitus (1713) takes up and perfects the various bulls against "Jansenist heresy" by particularly condemning the theses of Quesnel and Arnauld, it would give rise to a religious dispute in France that would gradually worsen into a major political crisis over confession tickets and refusal of sacraments to those who opposed the bull.     Textual reprint of the first edition of 1575, reproducing the title page, of this poetry by Guillaume de la Taysonnière, gentleman from Bresse who practiced poetry as pure distraction. L'attiffet is followed by other poems. The editors' note presents La Taysonnière's bibliography emphasizing the rarity of the editions, always highly sought after.

    Rare counterfeit of the first edition published in Florence the same year, both falsely dated 1799. Illustrated with a plate facing the title page, depicting a henhouse with its cockerels and hens and the Latin legend Orga nascent (They organize themselves). The work is stuffed with small manuscript slips that fill the gaps in the text, such as the numerous suspension points in certain poems.
    The first edition and the Turin counterfeit are perfectly identical except for a note on page 172 and a difference in the layout of the table of contents.
