In 2014, Romain Gary would have been 100 years.

On this occasion, many celebrations are held in his honor. Le Feu Follet offers to return to these events and to discover or rediscover a set of unique copies - first editions, signed autographs shipments - his greatest works.

City Thiais sets from Monday 3 to Saturday, November 15 "Romain Gary, Roots of Heaven to life ahead" tribute exhibition in partnership with Christine Tarricone, author of From Roman Kacew Romain Gary. Vilnius to free France, 1914-1945. This thematic route and biographical writer revives Romain Gary, "the man with two Prix Goncourt, the sublime mystifying, hero, diplomat, writer, filmmaker, reporter, womanizer, in all its complexity and humanity."

Éditions Gallimard for their salute the centennial of his birth by publishing two new texts: a novel, The Wine of dead and maintenance, The Meaning of my life, made ??a few months before his death and aired on Radio Canada February 7, 1982: see the detailed presentation on the website of Editions Gallimard .

The interview describes the state of mind of Gary at that time, a few months before his suicide:

"You ask me to tell a little about my life, just because I have one, I'm not so sure because I think more than anything that's life that we who owns us. After it seems to have lived, we remember a life of its own as if it had chosen. Personally, I know I've had very few choices in life, this is history in the broadest sense, and both more specific and daily word that led me, who am somehow wound. [...] I think not having enough life ahead of me to write another autobiography. "

Roger Grenier, who wrote the preface says that last sentence: "These words [...] grip the heart. A few months after recording, it ended his life, December 2 1980 If found in this transcript of the interview, many confidences, anecdotes, opinions which were read in The Promise of Dawn and Night will be calm, we need to read it as the final stage of his autobiography, or at least what he was willing to reveal ambition, hopes, successes and humiliations that made his life. "

And to go further, no less than three articles are devoted to this mysterious man, Janus author, diplomat, Companion of the Liberation (see about the rare autograph dedication to the great Gaullist resistant Gilbert Grandval ) on FranceTV Info:

Have also appeared, evidence of the resurgent enthusiasm for this author who ended his days explaining that he "had finally fully expressed" a comic from The Promise at Dawn (Joann Sfar, Gallimard edition ) and a biography written by Myriam Anisimov, one of the women who shared his life, under the title chameleon Romain Gary, the Denoël.

We soon find his texts have now become classics of French literature at the prestigious edition of the Pleiades, in preparation. One can admire pending unique and personal issues, including this beautiful autograph dedication to Maurice Chevalier , by visiting our dedicated to the centenary list:
