Pardon my non-french! You are all forgiven, you strange strangers who delight us with your torrents of tongue, your lexicons of legend, your diamonds of idiom. Let us relish the ripeness of your rhetoric, the wild, unheard-of wonders you weave, told in the tongue of Shakespeare, Goethe, Li Po, Dante, Cervantes, Khayyam, Sappho - or in the translations of Gide, Nerval, Judith Gauthier, Rivarol, Oudin, Toussaint, or Renée Vivien!

Presentation and Reading of the Correspondence of Renée Vivien

"Only useless letters are truly delightful to receive."

Librairie Le Feu Follet is pleased to host an event around the poet Renée Vivien with the participation of Imogen Bright, Suzette Robichon and Camille Islert.

The Librairie Le Feu Follet is pleased to host an event around the poet Renée Vivien “Only useless letters are quite pleasant to receive” (Letter of May 24, 1909 to Jean-Charles Brun)   Presentation and readings of Renée Vivien's correspondence A major figure in poetry at the turn of the 1900s, Renée Vivien is today experiencing a significant resurgence of interest. A prolific and erudite poet, lesbian, Pauline Tarn (aka Renée Vivien) has long suffered from a reception that is reluctant to recognize the talent of women and willingly voyeuristic. Neither an archetype of a damned woman nor an ethereal figure, she was above all an inveterate creator, but a willingly ironic and laughing being.

Her correspondence with Jean Charles-Brun, recently republished by Editions du Mauconduit, and her letters to Natalie Clifford-Barney, reveal this facet and help deconstruct fantasies to restore Renée Vivien in all her complexity. On the occasion of the publication in digital edition of Renée Vivien's letters to Jean-Charles Brun, her correspondence will be presented by Imogen Bright, great niece and beneficiary of Renée Vivien, Camille Islert, researcher and specialist of Renée Vivien, and Suzette Robichon, specialist in lesbian history and archives and Natalie Clifford-Barney.   with the participation of
