From 1913 to 1960, Camus's life was marked by the great ruptures of history caused by the rise and fall of ideologies to which few intellectuals resisted. It was this resistance to all forms of radical thought, this emphasis on the human element in the political machine, that would be violently reproached throughout his life.

Even today, some wonder if the cancellation of the major national exhibition planned for his centenary was due to some resurgence of these grievances against the libertarian thought of this "strange stranger."

Fortunately, throughout France and the world, passionate tributes continue to be paid to him, to which we add our own by offering a selection of precious copies of his major works, including limited editions or signed copies, such as one of the very rare handwritten dedications of The Stranger.
