Partly first edition of this posthumous collection of short stories. One of 115 numbered copies on Holland paper paper.
The collection contains 8 stories: Madame Sourdis, The attack of the mill, A victim of advertising, Circular travel, A prank or bohemian resort, How we get married, Three wars, Angeline or the haunted house.
Only three of these texts had appeared in booksellers during his lifetime: The attack on the mill (Les oirées de Médan, 1880); A joke (Contemporary Anthology of French and Belgian Writers, 1888); Three wars (Bagatelles, 1892).
Binding half morocco havana corners of shagreen green bronze. Back with 2 nerves decorated with a floral composition of several irons. Title piece in red morocco long grain. Back slightly and evenly thinned. A rubbed corner. Slight rubbing at a border, at the head. Beautiful copy with immaculate paper.
Covers and back preserved. Copy as published, unedged, with notebooks of different sizes.
