    Full glazed havana calf bindings, spines slightly lightened with five raised bands set with gilt fillets and decorated with gilt typographical motifs, navy blue calf title and volume labels, fragile joints on the first volume, gilt roulettes on the headcaps, triple gilt fillet frames on the boards, marbled endpapers and pastedowns, triple gilt fillet frames on the pastedowns, gilt fillets on the leading edges, corners slightly bumped, contemporary Romantic bindings signed by Bauzonnet.
    Some light foxing of no consequence.
    Handsome copy perfectly established in a full binding signed by Bauzonnet.

    Some light foxing mainly affecting the endpapers.

    Edition illustrated with a portrait of the author engraved by Fokke, 24 figures engraved on copper by Fritsch after Aartman and a copperplate fleuron repeated on the first four titles. Copy entirely ruled.
    Later bindings in full red morocco, signed Bauzonnet-Trautz. Spine with five raised bands decorated with gilt fillets and dotted lines. Boards framed with triple gilt fillets. Double gilt fillet emphasizing the leading edges. Gilt dentelle framing the doublures.
    Some rubbing and spine slightly faded, otherwise handsome copy.

    Full blonde calf binding from the late 19th century signed Bauzonnet. Smooth spine decorated with two mirrored fleurons, fillets on the headcaps. Blind-stamped title. Triple fillet frame on the boards. Rich interior border. Very handsome copy.
    Father Arthuys, a Jesuit, dramatized one of the most famous and touching stories from the Bible: Joseph was sold by his brothers as a slave in Egypt and became, by saving the pharaoh, master of Egypt as tax farmer. Benjamin is one of Jacob's sons, Joseph's brother by the same mother, Rachel. Before all his brothers, Joseph reveals himself.
