    Bound in full red morocco, spine with five raised bands ruled in double black fillets, boards framed with double black fillets, wide gilt dentelle border to the red morocco doublures, following endpapers of combed paper, bookplate pasted to an endpaper, gilt fillets to the board edges, all edges gilt, superb signed Duru binding dated 1848.

    With an introductory history of satire in France by Viollet Le Duc.

    A very handsome copy in an elegant red morocco doublure binding by Duru.

    Full navy morocco binding, spine with five raised bands set with gilt dots decorated with gilt double compartments enhanced with gilt typographical motifs, gilt friezes at head and foot, gilt roulettes on headcaps, triple gilt fillet frame on covers, marbled endpapers and pastedowns, gilt dentelle frame on pastedowns, all edges gilt, double gilt fillets on leading edges, superb contemporary binding signed by Hardy.

    Full marbled brown sheep binding. Decorated spine with raised bands. Red long grain morocco title-label and volume labels. A tear with loss at head of first volume. Rubbing. 2 corners slightly bumped. Headcap of volume II partly worn away.
    Collection of light and gallant tales by François de Lantier. Verses he wrote for Madame du Barry earned him a pension from Choiseul and a position in Dresden. He is the author of the voyages d'Anténor. Of his tales, he himself wrote in his preface: "it is better to write fairy tales than political dreams and...
