Adolphe THIERS

New edition from Furne illustrated with 47 figures (Johannot, Raffet, Scheffer) including 27 portraits, and a large folding map of the theater of war at the end of the last volume. Although the edition saw multiple reprints after 1850, all editions from the 1830s, close to the first and to the first illustrated edition, are much rarer. This edition differs from the first illustrated by a greater number of portraits that replaced the suite created by Ary Scheffer, of which a selection is present. At the end, the speech by M. Thiers upon his reception at the Académie française.

The appendix to session No. 36 has been bound following the subject of the 1841 session to the Chamber of Deputies presented by Adolphe Thiers.

Second edition. Half navy long-grained morocco binding, smooth spine decorated with gilt triple fillets showing traces of rubbing. Our copy belonged to Adolphe Thiers whose manuscript gift inscription dated in ink on the front endpaper enriches this volume. Corner dampstain at foot of pages 175 to 200, some light foxing.
