Full aubergine shagreen bindings, smooth spines faded and lightened decorated with gilt romantic arabesques, gilt fillets at head and foot of spines, gilt roulettes on headcaps, single gilt fillet border on boards decorated with cold-stamped romantic arabesques, front boards stamped in their centers with gilt laurel leaves surrounding the gilt inscription "Pension Membré à Versailles", marbled endpapers and pastedowns, marbled edges, gilt fillets at head and foot of leading edges, three corners slightly bumped, elegant contemporary romantic bindings.
Some foxing, manuscript ink inscription by a former owner at head of one endpaper.
