Rare and precious signed autograph inscription to Victor Hugo "... with the affectionate respects of the author..."
Eugène Spuller, close friend and collaborator of Léon Gambetta, owed his political rise to Victor Hugo when Hugo chose him "to be his substitute in the senatorial elections of the Seine". (
