Half bordeaux shagreen binding with corners, smooth spine decorated with a gilt cartouche adorned with gilt bees as well as black typographical motifs, gilt date at foot, traces of rubbing to joints, gilt fillets framing the marbled paper boards, marbled endpapers and pastedowns, three corners slightly bumped, covers and spine preserved, top edge gilt, binding signed by Loisellier-Le Douarin.
Work illustrated with an etching by Armbroster as frontispiece as well as five engraved titles, headpieces, initials and typographical ornaments.
Some foxing.

First edition, one of 450 copies on tinted paper, the only issue with 50 on Holland paper.
Two tears to spine, three slight marginal lacks to boards, otherwise handsome copy with unfaded gilt covers.
