Autograph letter signed (23 lines in black ink on Echo de Paris letterhead) from the illustrator and caricaturist Sennep, addressed to his friend the Provençal writer, caricaturist and filmmaker Carlo Rim about an article that Carlo Rim had published in his magazine "Vu" contravening artistic property: "Mon cher Carlo Rim, puisque tu es rédacteur en chef, je t'absous ! Et Vu en sera quitte pour les inévitables droits de reproduction que lui réclamera sans doute le syndicat de la propriété artistique. "L'incident sanglant" avait pour origine une reproduction intempestive de quinze ou vingt dessins (sans autorisation préalable, et sans indication d'origine et servant d'illustration à un article contre Léon Daudet. J'avais trouvé le procédé bizarre... Mais il n'est plus question de ça ! A bientôt, j'espère, et bien amicalement. J. Sennep." ["My dear Carlo Rim, since you are editor-in-chief, I absolve you! And Vu will get off with just the inevitable reproduction rights that the artistic property union will doubtless claim from it. 'The bloody incident' originated from an untimely reproduction of fifteen or twenty drawings (without prior authorization, and without indication of origin) serving as illustration for an article against Léon Daudet. I had found the procedure bizarre... But there's no more talk of that! See you soon, I hope, and very cordially. J. Sennep."]

Carlo Rim was a Provençal writer, author of "Ma belle Marseille", a caricaturist, a filmmaker and was notably the friend of Fernandel, Raimu and Marcel Pagnol but also of Max Jacob and André Salmon whom he met in Sanary.

Autograph letter signed (22 lines in black ink on Echo de Paris letterhead) from the illustrator and caricaturist Sennep, addressed to his friend the Provençal writer, caricaturist and filmmaker Carlo Rim announcing his sudden departure from Paris and postponing the project that was to bring them together: "Mon cher Carlo Rim, je reçois votre petit mot. Vous savez que je compte sur cet échange dont je vous avais parlé, et que vous aviez bien voulu accepter. Malheureusement, je quitte Paris demain matin, et je ne sais pas exactement quand je repasserai par la capitale. Mais je vous ferai signe, à tout hasard quand je viendrai. Bien amicalement. J. Sennep." ["My dear Carlo Rim, I received your little note. You know that I am counting on this exchange I spoke to you about, and which you were kind enough to accept. Unfortunately, I am leaving Paris tomorrow morning, and I don't know exactly when I will pass through the capital again. But I will let you know, just in case when I come. Yours truly. J. Sennep."]

Autograph letter dated and signed (25 lines in black ink) from the illustrator and caricaturist Sennep, addressed to his friend the Provençal writer, caricaturist and filmmaker Carlo Rim, thanking him while teasing him after having been decorated with the Legion of Honor: "Merci, gros jaloux ! mais, d'abord, je n'ai pas les cheveux aussi blancs ! ensuite, ma cravate est d'un bleu de ciel, qui évoque le ruban des "Enfants de Marie", beaucoup plus que l'ordre du Saint-Esprit..." ["Thank you, big jealous one! but, first, I don't have hair that white! then, my tie is sky blue, which evokes the ribbon of the "Children of Mary", much more than the order of the Holy Spirit..."]

A self-portrait in black felt-tip pen and heightened with blue pencil represents the illustrator, freshly honored, with his decoration around his neck.

April 24, 1962,
all my most affectionate congratulations! J. Sennep", these few words being accompanied by an original drawing by Sennep showing himself applauding the Cross of the Legion of Honor that was awarded to his friend.
