This famous magazine, whose ambition was to unite all modern literary and artistic tendencies, disseminated the Esprit nouveau, Cubism, Dadaism and the aesthetic theories of Pierre Reverdy (its founder), Guillaume Apollinaire and Max Jacob. The choice of the title Nord-Sud is a tribute to the twelfth metro line connecting Montmartre and Montparnasse, in other words, the artists' quarter and that of the writers.
With a relatively limited print - only 100 to 200 copies - this publication, financed by the fashion designer-patron Jacques Doucet, became one of the most important of the era.
