Half bronze sheep binding, spine with four raised bands set with gilt stippling, decorated with double gilt compartments and corner typographical motifs, navy shagreen title-label, marbled paper boards, marbled endpapers and pastedowns, marbled edges, corners very slightly rubbed, original wrappers preserved, contemporary binding.
One harmless fold not touching the text at the head of page 227, handsome copy attractively bound.

First edition.
Bradel binding in full purple boards, smooth spine faded decorated with a gilt fleuron, date at foot, brown title-label with minor rubbing.
Inscribed by P. de Saint-Victor, handsome interior condition.
