Publisher's half brown shagreen binding. Spine with false raised bands decorated with compartments with multiple fillets. Series of blind frames on the boards. Gilt edges. White moiré endpapers. The present tissue guards are considerably browned. Fresh overall with some scattered foxing. Light tear at head. Rubbing traces. Good copy.
Famous travel account by journalist Charles de Saint-Julien (1802-1869), from Saint Petersburg to the Caucasus via Finland, Moscow and Nijni-Novgorod (the Volga, Crimea, Kazan...), followed by a journey from Saint Petersburg to Kamchatka, through Siberia.
