Rare original prospectus of the play "Impressions of Africa", adapted for the theater by its author Raymond Roussel. It was performed during three evenings at the Théâtre Antoine in the spring of 1912, and counted among its spectators the artists Guillaume Apollinaire, Francis Picabia, Gabrielle Buffet and Marcel Duchamp.
The flyer printed in black and red contains two reproductions of posters of the play on the first and the last dish. Inside, we find its complete distribution and the title of the main scenes, including "The one-legged Lelgoualch playing the flute on his own tibia", "the evocative wall of a priest" ...
"Will the theatrical performance of the Impressions of Africa at the Antoine Theater, May 11, 1912, be hooted, whistled, as they say?" But it had at least two spectators on whom the session has produced a major influence: Michel Leiris, a child of eleven, who because of this piece will become an ethnologist in Africa, and Marcel Duchamp, a cubist painter, who because of this piece will kick off the whole twentieth aesthetic century.
