    Half morocco-grain green shagreen binding with corners, spine with four raised bands set with gilt dots and decorated with double gilt compartments, light rubbing of no consequence to spine, frame of double gilt fillets on marbled paper boards, endpapers and pastedowns of combed paper, first cover preserved and showing marginal restorations, corners slightly bumped, top edge gilt.
    Work illustrated, as frontispiece, with a bust portrait of the author.
    Handsome copy beautifully bound.

    Contemporary full glazed brown calf binding. Decorated smooth spine. Brown calf title-label, black calf volume label. Light rubbing. Fine copy, very fresh.
    The first two volumes are devoted to the poetic works, the third to the comedies. These works contain the Odes, Cantatas, Epistles, Allegories, Epigrams, and the comedies (Le flatteur, Le capricieux, Le caffé, La ceinture magique). Jean-Baptiste Rousseau was considered the greatest lyric poet of his time; he is especially credited with writing the first French cantatas, this secular genre that was set to music by the most brilliant composers...

    Contemporary full blonde calf binding. Raised spine richly decorated. Havana morocco title label, decorated havana morocco volume label. Triple fillet frame on boards. Roll on edges and interior. A slight lack at foot of volume II. Rubbing. 2 corners slightly bumped. One corner knocked. Scuffs on boards of volume I. Fine copies, with fresh paper. A note added in contemporary hand on Le flatteur). Beautiful, well-printed edition.
    These diverse works contain the Odes, Cantatas, Epistles, Allegories, Epigrams, and comedies (Le flatteur, Le capricieux, Le caffé, La ceinture magique) by the author. Preface by Jean-Baptiste Rousseau.

    Publisher's binding in full glazed and grained blonde calf. Smooth spine decorated. Brown morocco title-label and volume label. Triple fillet frame on boards. Edges gilt. Headcap of volume I worn. Rubbing. A small lack to edge on upper board of volume I.
    Jean-Baptiste Rousseau was among the most celebrated poets of his time, notably for his cantatas which were set to music.
