Rainer Maria RILKE

Autograph letter in German signed by Rainer Maria Rilke to actress Else Hotop, to whom he writes under her stage name, Elya Maria Nevar. 2 1/2 pages written on a bifolium watermarked "Sackleinen". Autograph envelope enclosed, addressed to 'Else Hotop' bearing postmarks dated November 3, 1918.

A precious piece of Rilke's correspondence, reflecting the delights of an enchanted afternoon spent during WW1 with the actress Elya Nevar, one of his most fervent admirers.

First edition, rare, limited to 500 copies in total after 300 numbered copies of which 100 specially bound. Copy belonging to Hans Maria Lux with his stamp and a note in blue ink dated 1975. Under the stamp of Hans Maria Lux's signature, 2 Chinese or Japanese stamps. Hans Maria Lux was an author of children's books and an educator.
Publisher's binding in grey marbled paper with a green title label. Grey chemise with title on the front board and spine. Some foxing in the margins, which seems to affect all copies due to the paper used. The marbled paper covering the spine is split lengthwise with small losses. The chemise shows tears to the spine with the head torn off.

Handsome copy despite a trace of a price label originally pasted at the foot of the rear board.

Superb autograph inscription from Rilke to the uncle of Nanny Wunderly-Volkart, a young Swiss admirer and patron with whom he maintained an extensive correspondence.

Binding of the editor in blue cardboard half, smooth back of vellum cream cardboard, monogram of the publisher struck gold on the first board, gilded head, complete copy of his shirt and its case in flexible cardboard covered with same orange paper as the shirt.
Rare and precious autograph dedication dated and signed by Rainer-Maria Rilke to Maurice Betz: "... on the eve of our" notebooks ", this happy effort, complementary to his own Rainer-Maria Rilke (Val-Mont, May 1926 ). "
