Jean-Charles Renoul (active in the second half of the 19th century), a Nantes historian and member of the Société académique de Nantes, of which he served as president in 1849. A prolific author devoted to the urban and institutional history of Nantes, he published all his works with the Mellinet press, the house printer of the local learned society. His works include Le Tribunal consulaire à Nantes (1870), La paroisse et le quartier de Saint-Similien (1866), L'île-Feydeau (1860), Le Bouffay (1865), Graslin et le quartier de Nantes qui porte son nom (1860), Le quai et le Port Maillard (1863), studies on Les quais Brancas et Flesselles (1861) and on Danyel de Kervégan (1863), as well as Passage à Nantes de S. M. l'empereur Napoléon Ier (9, 10 et 11 août 1808), published in 1859.
