    Rare colored copy of these fine engravings considered among the pinnacles of Romantic steel engraving.
    Contemporary full red shagreen binding. Raised band spine decorated with mirrored tools and fillets. Upper cover with monogram C. F. Both covers with blind frame and large tools in corners, doubled with a second blind frame. Rich interior border. Edges gilt. Traces of rubbing. One corner slightly bumped. Some foxing spots in margins.

    Half red calf bindings with corners, spines slightly faded with one raised band decorated with gilt and black romantic arabesques, gilt friezes at head and foot, gilt fillet frames on marbled paper boards, marbled endpapers and pastedowns, speckled edges, some corners slightly bumped, contemporary bindings.
    Some foxing, four vignettes lacking in our copy.
    However, our copy is complete with the two portraits of Béranger and the facsimile of a 4-page manuscript letter, all placed at the beginning of volume I.

    The edition is printed in an airy typography with wide margins, close to the original published in 1831.
    Foxing and browning on the engravings as is often the case.
