First complete collected edition with supplements, notes and explanations, as well as important chronological tables at the beginning of each century. The volumes were initially published from 1748 to 1755, the year of the author's death.
Contemporary full marbled and speckled calf binding. Spine with raised bands decorated with 4 compartmentalized fleurons. Brown morocco title and volume labels. Overall fresh paper despite the defects mentioned below volume by volume.
Volume 1: trace of dampstain in margin at middle bottom up to page xv at beginning of work, and resuming on the index from p. 577 to 585. Lacks at tail, and at upper joint at tail, as well as at lower joint at tail. One corner bumped and worn.
Volume II: Head headcap frayed. Lacks on lower board and at top edge. 2 corners bumped. Pale trace of dampstain from p. 657 to 664 at middle bottom, in margin.
Volume III: Upper joint cracked at head along the first compartment. On the lower board, a small area of leather nibbled by worming. One corner nibbled. From p. 544 to 571 (end), trace of dampness in margin, same on the first 20 pages, all over a few centimeters.
Volume IV: A crack in the upper joint at tail. Some surface abrasions. Trace of dampstain in margin, 3cm by 8, at bottom, fading throughout the work.
Volume V: Head headcap worn. One corner bumped. From p. 427 to the end, a dampness ring in outer margin, starting from the bottom corner.
Volume VI: Trace of dampstain on upper board toward outer edge, 2cm by 16 lengthwise.
Volume VII: One corner bumped.
Volume VIII: Head headcap worn. Narrow crack in upper joint at head. One corner bumped.
Volume IX: Small trace of dampstain in middle of bottom margin on first pages. One corner slightly bumped. Some surface abrasions on boards.
Volume X: A lack in upper joint at head as well as in lower joint. Outer edge affected by dampness having detached the leather and nibbled the leaves composing the board over 11 cm. Trace of dampness in lower outer margin of 1cm by 8, up to p. 46 fading, resuming from p. 465 to the end, p. 483.
Volume XI: Dampness rings in lower outer margin up to p. 93, fading, resuming from p. 300 to the end, more marked on index pages, the paper fraying.
Volume XII: A lack in upper joint at head, same in lower joint. Small dampness rings from p. 456 to the end becoming more pronounced. One corner bumped.
Volume XIII: Light dampstain trace from p. 401 to 416 at corner in margin. From p. 487 to the end, dampness rings in lower outer margin, becoming more pronounced.
