First edition, printed in a small number of copies, of this offprint from the Bulletins de la Société d'antropologie, volume IV, 2nd series, for the year 1869.

According to the CCFr, copies are held only at the BnF and in Arles.

The work discusses the transformist hypothesis. A native of the Upper Palatinate, Franz Ignaz Pruner (1808-1882), known as Pruner-Bey following his years in Egypt, returned to Europe in 1860 and settled in Paris, where he devoted himself to anthropological studies.

A few small losses to the corners of the spine and wrappers, with occasional minor foxing.
