Essential to the proper functioning of the executive and legislative branches, the Parlements, beginning with that of Paris, were severely repressed by Louis XV. Publisher's gilt binding. Full black cloth. Special plates for the upper cover, lower cover and spine. Edges gilt. Cloth somewhat faded overall. Narrow one-centimeter split to lower joint at head. Foxing on the first leaves, then much rarer thereafter. The tissue guards have browned but not the plates. Paper fresh white overall. Corners worn at edges.
