Important work by English orientalist Simon Ockley (1678-1720), professor of Arabic at Cambridge: The Conquest of Syria, Persia and Egypt by the Saracens. The study begins with an abridgement of the life of Mohammed and continues with the history of the Caliphs, his text being based on several unpublished Arabic manuscripts which are cited at the end.
