First edition illustrated with fifty-nine engravings on copper and wood by Auguste Lepère, one of 220 numbered copies on pure Arches laid paper with the Nantes watermark, the only issue, this one printed specially for M. Join-Lambert.
Full tawny calf binding, spine with five raised bands, date at foot, boards richly decorated with a broad design of compartments, interlacing and shells inlaid with green, mahogany and black calf in the Renaissance taste, silk moiré doublures framed with seven gilt fillets, endpapers of matching silk, covers and spine preserved, top edge gilt, slipcase with rubbed and peeling headcaps, Art Nouveau binding signed with the monogram DLR at foot of first board.
Our copy is enhanced with one of the destroyed wood-engraved plates from the first series "Rue des Barres - Rue Grenier sur l'eau - Sortie de l'exposition" given to the Nantes museum.
