Handsome copy despite a small light dampstain at foot of front cover and to its verso, spine lightened and discolored as usual.

First Edition with 9 full-page green illustrations including the frontispiece.
Half Havana binding, back with four nerves set with golden garlands and adorned with double gilded boxes decorated with golden typographical motifs, marbled paper plates, guards and contreplats of handmade paper, blankets and back preserved.
Our copy includes after page 210 "The words of Professor Martin Thausing", which is consistent with the description of the "Bibliography of Belgium" of 1897 (No. 1457) and seems to be the first edition.
Autograph dedication dated and signed Maurice Maindron: "To Louis Bourdery for his children when he will ... what I do not wish him."
