Half brown shagreen binding, spine with four thin raised bands set with gilt dotted lines decorated with double gilt compartments richly ornamented, frame of blind fillets on the hazelnut boards which show traces of marginal discoloration, cream watered silk endpapers and pastedowns, corners slightly bumped, gilt edges.

A light dampstain affecting marginally the very first leaves of the first volume, two stains on an endpaper of the first volume, foxed tissue guards but without damage to the handsome steel engravings.
The second volume has been bound without its title and half-title pages.
Provenance: from the library of O.P. Laurentü with his engraved bookplate on a pastedown.
Pleasant interior condition almost free from foxing.
