Half midnight blue calf Restoration binding. Smooth spine with large romantic tooling lengthwise. Good copy. The last leaf of the table of contents is frayed at the margin.
The author having spent five months in Clermont Ferrand and visited Auvergne, proposed to make a travel account to the glory of an unknown and remarkable region for tourism; a large part of the work is a description of the city of Clermont-Ferrand. The rest of the book is devoted to the particularities of Auvergne, namely its volcanoes and springs. At the very end of the work, the author provides itineraries for walks and discoveries.

Half navy blue shagreen bindings, spine with four raised bands decorated with gilt double compartments as well as gilt and blind fillets, double gilt fillets on the marbled paper boards, marbled endpapers and pastedowns, upper corners slightly bumped.
Illustrated work, with a frontispiece in the first volume, of an engraved portrait representing Apollonius of Tyana.
Handsome copy almost entirely free from foxing.
