First edition.
Contemporary half blonde sheep binding with small corners. Smooth spine decorated with fillets. Fawn morocco title and volume labels. Some rubbing to spine but handsome copy.
Man of letters and poet, this work is the fruit of the Chevalier de la Tremblaye's travels in Switzerland and Italy. The epistolary form allows the author a light and digressive style. According to Grimm's Correspondance littéraire, philosophique, one finds "finesse, good nature, and even enough lightness in the style..." The author embellished some of his letters with his own poems.
