    Illustrated edition with 15 colour plates by Charles Jouas, one of 650 numbered copies printed on Imperial Japan paper.

    Contemporary brown half morocco-grained shagreen over corners, spine with four raised bands ruled in black, moiré paper-covered boards, endleaves and pastedowns, wrappers and spine preserved, top edge gilt.

    A handsome copy, attractively bound.

    First edition printed in only 125 numbered copies on strong laid paper.
    Work illustrated by Charles Jouas with 12 compositions engraved with etching and burin by Boisson, including one frontispiece and eleven in-text. These engravings were printed on China paper in Wittman's workshops and mounted on laid paper.
    Full lavallière morocco binding, spine with five raised bands decorated with triple gilt compartments, place and date at foot, quintuple gilt compartment framing the boards, important gilt stamped decoration framing the pastedowns, combed paper endpapers, double gilt fillet on the edges, guilloche headcaps, original covers preserved, all edges gilt, binding signed...
