Publisher's brown half cloth over flexible green boards, endpapers and following leaves browned, title printed on the front board.
A second fascicle, devoted to the Dytiscidae and Gyrinidae, appeared in 1852.
A pharmacist practising in Metz, Jean-Baptiste Géhin (1816-1889) was also an amateur entomologist. He was the first to describe several insect species from the Moselle region, including Temognatha cehvrolatii in 1855 and Sitodiplosis Mosellana in 1857.
