First edition, rare, decorated with a frontispiece drawn by Bertaux and engraved by Martinet.
Contemporary green full vellum binding. Spine lacking. Corners bumped. Paper lacking to 2 leaves at right margin, not touching text. Dampstain at bottom of page on several leaves at beginning of work not touching text. Endpapers absent.
Zély is the work of Madame de Fourqueux, who published several novels: Amélie de Téville ou Les confessions de madame... She is regularly cited in collections of 18th-century anecdotes. Zély deals with the destiny of a woman in the 18th century. The two works that follow are by abbé Voisenon, a man of letters quite famous in the 18th century, frequenting salons, friend of Voltaire and author of libertine and light works, theatrical pieces and even a famous opera: Titon et l'aurore (Mondonville). The edition was established by Dantu who gathered these three works with a preface of his own creation, around the theme of happiness.
