Full navy blue morocco binding, spine with five raised bands set with gilt dots and decorated with richly ornamented double gilt compartments, gilt roulettes on headcaps, triple gilt fillet frame on covers, endpapers and pastedowns of combed paper, gilt dentelle frame on pastedowns, all edges gilt, double gilt fillets on leading edges, superb contemporary binding signed Cuzin.
Our copy includes the rare original photograph pasted on page 253 present only, according to Vicaire, on a few copies on tinted vellum.
Very handsome copy in perfect condition.

Half black shagreen binding, spine with four raised bands decorated with gilt double compartments enhanced at corners with gilt floral motifs, minor traces of rubbing to spine, black paper boards with surface wear, gilt initials stamped at center of front board, marbled endpapers and pastedowns.
With frontispiece portrait of Meissonier engraved by Baland. First printing of the 34 vignettes by J.L. E. Meissonier and 6 by Foulquier engraved on wood.
