In this letter, all traces of humility and deference to Georges Raillard : "It was a grace to meet you yesterday morning, I felt honored and moved by your intention to write an article on my albums", François Cheng him submits the possibility of writing an article embracing the entirety of his work rather than the initial desire to concentrate his analysis of art criticism on his calligraphy albums in order to better understand the pursuit and search for his art that feed Sino-French bicultural marriage and, more broadly, a universal humanism : "I wondered if I could not hope for you a more general article that would cover - or at least signal - also my creative works, namely , my novel ... my collections of poetry. Indeed, all my life is a quest that tends towards a form of symbiosis, which would take care of the best part of the 2 great cultures that I crossed. This as well on the level of the thought as on that of the literary and artistic tradition (way of the Zen and Orphic Way).
