Half anthracite grey morocco with corners, spine in four compartments, gilt date at foot, cat's-eye paper boards, combed paper endpapers and pastedowns, original wrappers and spine preserved, elegant signed binding by Alix.

Autograph signed carte de visite by Alphonse de Chateaubriant, 5 lines written in blue ink, addressed to Georges Normandy thanking him for having sent him his work "Le père Decorne et ses semblables" recently published.
A small black ink stain in the upper right margin of the card, thin adhesive strips in the right and left margins of the verso of the card.

The illustrations comprise: 3 full-page hors-texte including 1 frontispiece, 51 in-text and 20 tailpieces.
Our copy is enriched with a menu from a luncheon organized by the Société des Amis des Livres on Saturday March 13, 1943, the menu is illustrated with an original drypoint by Jean Frélaut which he justified.
Cover boards shaded, spine and boards of the chemise and slipcase marginally sunned.
